What are the Benefits of Electric Vehicles?

A look at how and why more people should embrace electric tech

Why Should We Embrace Electric Vehicles?

Electric vehicles are well on course to the next prominent market force in transportation and technology. They are the key that unlocks a new era in the way that we think about and use energy.

Electric vehicles are one of the solutions to stem the damage to the natural world which comes from harmful carbon emissions from traditional vehicles.

Improved Energy Efficiency

  • EV's have less parts to push energy through, which means they need less energy conversion.
  • Electric vehicles convert 75% of input power into kinetic energy, whereas traditional engines can only convert 25%.
  • Even the brakes operate differently – they utilise something called , which allows the car to reclaim energy under braking.

Other Kinds of Electric Vehicles

It’s worth mentioning at this point that it’s not just cars that cause harmful emissions, we’re also talking about agricultural vehicles such as tractors, harvesters and quad bikes, which are also now being given the electric treatment.

Reduction in Green House Emissions

One of the biggest reasons for the introduction of these kinds of vehicles into the market is the growing concern in the rise of greenhouse gases and their contribution to global warming.

The primary areas of concern for climate change specialists is the build-up of carbon emissions in urban areas, where millions of people drive cars every day.

Environmental Improvements

Overall, electric vehicles are much cleaner and safer for the environment.

Electric cars don’t require drilling for oil, and they are free of air and noise pollution.

Also, harmful chemicals that are used the oil and the radiator of standard vehicles can often leak, seeping into soil and drains which is harmful for everything in the natural world.

Economic Growth

Innovations in the electric car industry have created thousands of jobs.

Not only in the technology sector, but the electricity generated to fuel the electric vehicles must be created by trained technicians, which has increased the demand for sustainable energy.

Affordability

While it’s true that some electric vehicles have a high upfront cost than petrol counterparts, they are more affordable over the long-term.

To add to this, electric cars are getting more and more affordable every year, with the cost of battery manufacture coming down.
In the next few decades, it is very likely that all cars will need to be electric. If the UK government reach their target, they hope to have all petrol and diesel cars banned by 2040.

In order to address the environmental damage to our planet, we must make this step to change things for the better.
